We all want to do good this season.
It seems at year end we are all bombarded with ‘ways to give’. I find it helpful to really know the charity or organization that you will be giving to and then you have such a better sense of where your money goes. I’m going to be very clear for all my readers in this post. I KNOW all of these folks I’m telling you about. I know their hearts. They are responsible, kind, respectful, brave and most of all, they are warriors for the Cross! Please consider a gift to them this year and if you are so moved, add them to your monthly giving like we do.
Our family supports each of these organizations I’m writing about. Where will your gift go this year? Kosovo, India, Ireland or Romania? Let’s get started!!!
Where your money goes in Kosovo
The Republic of Kosovo is among the poorest countries in Europe. GAP Missions has a team on the ground there who will not be named for security reasons. This team works in a city of 200,000, where they work with local believers to create and manage community development projects. These projects focus on youth leadership, health education, and personalized life coaching for the materially poor. All of this activity takes place in one small rented room.
They are raising funds to purchase property and open a permanent location for a Center for Community Development. This will allow them to expand their efforts to alleviate poverty in Kosovo and it will give the persecuted believers a place to safely mature into a strong, local church. This will be the place where the believers can demonstrate the love of God to the surrounding community. 100% of funds given will go to the building project in Kosovo. Thank you for partnering with us and the local believers in Kosovo.
To give online go to: GAP Missions and in the dropdown choose “Construction Projects DG” or put this in the memo of your check and mail to P.O. Box 185 McDonough, GA 30253
Where your money goes in Ireland
The Republic of Ireland is the least evangelized English speaking country in the world! Did you know that? Widespread humanism, depression, and suicide are just symptoms of a great evil that is lurking beneath the surface in the Emerald Isle. The overwhelming need for Gospel-preaching churches in Ireland deeply burdened our hearts. In March 2016, Henry Baptist Church, in partnership with GAP Missions, sent our family friend, the Slaters, to Mallow, County Cork, Ireland.
They partnered with two other families to form Team Ireland, a ministry dedicated to establishing Bible-believing churches throughout the nation of Ireland. Presently, they are working to build Mallow Bible Fellowship into a self-sustaining church. The church is growing, and we are so excited about the many people who have been won to Christ and are engaged in discipleship. We are looking forward to how God is going to use these people to reach all of Ireland for Christ.
Partner with the Slaters and visit GAP Missions (choose John Slater – Ireland in the dropdown box). They have recently begun renting a facility in the heart of Mallow called the Family Life Centre. Most of all, they currently need to purchase tables and chairs to furnish the property. God will move if His people will pray.
Where your money goes in Romania
My sweet friend, Jenny O’Kelley, has been in Romania for 6 years working with the orphanages in her area. She works and is supported through ABWE and she has her own page for supporting her. It’s super fun to keep up with all her activities with the kids on her Facebook Page and get a glimpse of what it’s like in the villages there.
Although Romania is a small Eastern European country about the size of Oregon, there are over 60,000 orphans in the country. Most of the children have parents, but because of poverty or abuse, the kids are sent or run away to orphanages. The children are well cared for physically but are often neglected emotionally and spiritually. They are also very far behind in school. To fill the gap, Jenny started working with these kids six years ago.
After five years of the kids, God opened the door for her to have one of her orphan kids in foster care which will lead toward adoption. Because of this, she had to step back from her work in the orphanage, but is working on a training program to train others how to work with orphan kids so they can start their own ministries. She also plans on taking more kids in foster care in the future.
One adventure they took the kids on was to the seaside.
Where your money goes in India
Can you imagine living in a place where there is no church, no Bible, no access to the Gospel? Unfortunately, this is the case for many of those living in the rural villages of North India. This is your chance to be a part of something big that you may never get to actually see. A close family friend has chosen to move from America and work here.
They enter new areas where there is no Gospel presence. Once there, they will use evangelism and discipleship to start new churches and finally, train leaders for each new church. Imagine being a part of starting churches in North India! The need is desperate. Because of security issues, I can not publicly share any information about them. However, if you would like to help please send me a private message and I will put you in contact with them. Their safety is my ultimate concern.
I want to personally thank anyone who chooses to give. Our family personally supports everyone I’ve talked about above. They are the most amazing, brave people. Many blessings to you all!
