Well, I did it… at least for a while…
The most social person on the planet (seriously, the worst punishment I ever got was having to spend time alone in my room!!) has logged out of Facebook til after Christmas and after David’s Birthday and after school starts. I had to log in today though, to tell someone I wasn’t on Facebook because I couldn’t stand thinking that they might think I was ignoring them!
But something interesting happened yesterday as a result of my ‘non-facebookness’.
I reached out…
to a person…
I didn’t have Facebook to answer all my questions impersonally so I had to text my sons’ AWANA leader and ask if tonight was PJ night. He said yes and then said he wouldn’t be there because he had pneumonia! Oh dear!! Knowing someone is sick sets off sorts of ‘mommy’ bells in me. I have to do something! Anything! Cook, clean, shop, pickup kids… SOMETHING! So this person is single but his girlfriend lives far away and so does his mom. So I whipped up some Potato Soup (ala my momma’s recipe) and ran it over there. It is so something my mom would do and he said the same thing about his mom.
My point: (sometimes it takes some doing to get to the point…)
I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOW ABOUT THIS IF I HAD USED FACEBOOK TO COMMUNICATE.
So that is my thought of the day. Get personal. Call someone. Write to someone. Text someone. Pray for someone. Just so you reach out and let them know you care.
Keep it Simple,
