Oh my stars, has it really been since October since I blogged??? Oh well, don’t worry, I’m not gonna fill you all in on the last three months! Eek!
The Train Room is finally becoming a reality for my dear Captain. The Captain has had track plans, etc. on grid paper for at least 20 years, maybe more. It’s bittersweet because his daddy would have really loved this whole process and probably would have flown here and moved in for a while to enjoy it! Financially, we have figured how to cut MANY corners and still have a wonderfully perfect finished product. A friend of ours is doing the constuction-type work… sheetrock, framing, etc. Then the Captain will complete it over the next few years with our two boys… also train loving Brumms!
So, here’s the first few steps!!!
The last picture is of the Hobby Room. This is actually a 5th bedroom that we took the carpet out of and put in stick-down vinyl tile to make it more ‘hobby like’. Off of this bedroom is where the Train Room will be which is a former walk in attic that was completely unfinished.
Then we had a ‘book’ problem. Not really a problem, just a dilemma… my husband loves books. That’s really an understatement but whatever. So we don’t want to have them in every nook and cranny (don’t you just love the word ‘cranny’??) in the house so I turned to my new best friend… PINTEREST!!! Oh my stars the ideas floweth freely on Pinterest!!! Here’s my page of boards on there if you so choose to absolutely waste the next few hours!!! So here’s the beginning of our version of this Ikea Hack we found on Pinterest… I love this girl’s blog, BTW, she rocks with organization!!! You’ll get lost on her site for a while too!
Here are the three Billy Bookcases we got at Ikea on our date night…(that’s another blog for another day!)
