As we draw to a close on day 7 of NaBloPoMo (I still have to type that as I’m saying it in my head), I’m taking this opportunity to express my gratitude for my friend Patty. She’s amazing for so many reasons. But she wrote an awesome book recently called, “It’s the Sugar, Stupid” and before you go off on the title, she’s talking to herself!
I taught her to clip coupons and make the grocery store manager cry by the time you checked out! We walked together, went to the grocery store together, had coffee, talked, laughed, cried.
And then she moved back to Florida.
And then I cried.
Oh my stars, that picture… (This is a pic from Callaway Gardens where we took our families one weekend. Let’s not even talk about how many colors are in my hair!)
Now I regularly use words like “schfitz” and “schmutz” and “schlep”. I still love Patty so much.
You’ve seen in posts my before and after pictures. Here’s one of her now with her daughter…
Reading this book made me not miss her so much. But more than that, this book is GOOD. It delivers the message I’ve been preaching for a year with Trim Healthy Mama…
DITCH THE SUGAR!!!
Seriously, it’s killing you. You’ll die with a smile on your face from the donut, but it’s killing you.
Patty lays out what happened to her and what she did to fix it in this super easy to read book. She’s not telling you any medical advice AT ALL. She is merely telling her story in a way only she could do. She was diagnosed in 2016 with diabetes with a blood sugar of 324 and an A1C of 12. Within a few months, her numbers were great and she’s not on any meds for diabetes!! The chapters are well laid out and there are action plans for you as well. At the end, she even has a page of things to do so you don’t have to highlight the book all up!
I hope you order this and read it or give it to a loved one for Christmas. What a gift that would be!
Keep it Simple,
