It’s good to gather y’all!
Any time, any where for any reason!! The Bible says, in more than a few places, that God wants His people to gather for all sorts of reasons. It’s a running joke that you can immediately get a bunch of believers together with food but, even in Biblical times, they ate when they gathered!! I’ll sprinkle some of those references throughout for y’all! It’s so cool! Here’s a good one:
Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Each month, at my house, we local Trim Healthy Mamas gather for what we call a ‘Meet & Eat’. I’m never happier than when my house is full and that’s only second to the happiness when my belly is full! If you want to do this, it’s easy! These ladies are all so important to me for all different reasons! All this is part of building and cultivating your tribe y’all!!!
Acts 2:46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts
First, decide on a consistent date.
We chose the second Tuesday night each month because it falls on the least amount of holidays and we also chose 7 pm so the ladies could get their families fed and settled before coming. That seems to work for everyone. We’ve done this for over a year and each time, there are different folks, different dishes and different dynamics. It’s always enjoyable though no matter who comes or what we eat.
Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
Second, don’t fret about the food.
We don’t bother with a meal plan or menu. I’m sure you’re thinking that would never work. But it works every time! Everyone brings a dish that is Trim Healthy Mama approved and it can be an S (Satisfying/Fat) or an E (Energizing/Carb). Folks can choose to crossover (XO) that night or they can choose to stay in a certain fuel mode and take portions of the other stuff home for later. I bet you wanna know what’s in that picture above, right?? Well, here ya go!!!
Pecan Praline Cookie Bars (yes, I pronounce this PEE-CAN!! Because can is not pronounced kahn. Thank you)
Bacon Wrapped Pickles (imagine these for game day!)
Chicken Bacon Caesar Casserole (I may or may not have had this for breakfast before!)
Grand Greek Salad from pg 183 out of the original THM Cookbook (link is for the cookbook)
Zuppa Toscana Soup (low carb version!)
Whoop Whoop Soup from page 149 in Trim Healthy Table (link is for the cookbook)
Third, encourage folks to invite friends.
When folks first hear about Trim Healthy Mama and then we’re having a “Meet & Eat”, some assume this is some sort of ‘club’ they will need to join and then get all their friends to join. You see where I’m going with this? When they find out it’s just eating right and there’s nothing to buy or join, they loosen up a bit. When someone new comes over and has no idea what it’s about, we don’t care whether they bring stuff or not. If they insist, then we usually get them to bring fruit or something simple like pimiento cheese. At the end of the day, this is all about community, fellowship, support and love. We all know we need to treat our bodies correctly and this is the way to do it! If you’re just getting started with Trim Healthy Mama, you’ll want to review the things I did to mess up in the beginning so you don’t do those things!
Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
