If you are dancing around the table about Trim Healthy Mama, JUST DO IT!!
You’ll do all of these things below… but guess what? It will still work eventually! Even as I was sitting here writing this post… a friend texted me and said, “I’m thinking of doing THM but I want my husband to do it with me.” Let me address this and the other 4 things that don’t work. (This post will contain affiliate links that help you and me!! Thanks!) Here’s a handy dandy gift guide!
So, just for you all… here’s the top 5 ways I messed up. Feel free to add your screw ups in the comments below. It may help others avoid these pitfalls!

1. I didn’t read the book.
My friend, Jennifer, told me and told me to read the book. Ugh. It’s long. It’s overwhelming. It’s confusing. When there’s a ‘short’ 25 page pdf as a quickstart guide… why in the world would I read the book I bought? Isn’t it enough to say I bought it? NNNOOOO! Trust me. Read the book. So many of the guidelines make so much more sense after you understand why this plan works.
2. I expected my family and all my friends to jump on board with me!
Do this for you! If it helps, write out the top 5 reasons why you are doing this. The plan is geared toward controlling your blood sugar… NOT weight loss. But the first side effect of this plan happens to be weight loss as your body begins to relearn how to efficiently burn fuel. If your husband follows this plan with you then consider yourself lucky that day. Please be prepared to have someone in your house eat your skinny chocolate then drink a mountain dew and wonder why you just flew off the handle! Check out my pinterest page for more ideas for THM!!
3. I tried to do this all in one day.
If you start this plan the day after you finished off the last HALF of a no joke, real, full fat key lime pie, then you will be really disappointed in how everything is gonna taste. I don’t imagine any of you would do that but I DID!!! The first thing I made on this plan was some chocolate lava muffin in a mug cake and IT WAS AWFUL!!! Why? Because my mouth was so trained to love sugar that it didn’t know anything else. Thankfully, I joined and stalked the beginners facebook page and found out that you MUST get off sweets of any kind before switching over. This is a process. It’s a journey to better health. You’ll be sorely disappointed if you make a bunch of desserts and expect them to taste like the Great American Cookie Company.
4. I thought I’d just do this alone.
EVERYTHING is better with friends. Fun, misery, sadness, joy, and yes, eating!! Back in January, (when I started for real… not like last April/May when I fake started and lost weight and then summer happened and I jumped off plan for the rest of the year) I began hosting a “meet & eat” at my house. We’ve faithfully met every second Tuesday night of each month and it’s a joy. We all cook something we’ve been wanting to try. Some of them are bombs and some are winners! But we learn it together. We share pitfalls, tips, and triumphs. We’ve grown closer as a group too and support each other on the other weeks too. You CAN do this alone…. but if you can help it… just don’t.
5. I killed myself working in the kitchen all day.
Unless, it’s normal for you to love to cook (that’s not me) and spend all your time in the kitchen, don’t let this change that. Yes, you will need to prepare but this can be done without hours and hours in the kitchen. We proudly call ourselves Drive Thru Sue and I wear that badge with honor! This plan can be as easy or as complicated as you like. You will find all the resources you need for success on pinterest, facebook, instagram!! Check out my channels too.
Girl, puh-leeeze… you know if this plan was complicated I wouldn’t do it!!! I’m still at 145, I’m five foot nine and I’m 48!! If I can make this work… you can too!
Here’s some encouragement for you…
