The first way you make me smile is your compassion for other people. You take a moment to ask how someone is or maybe just stop to say hello and give me a hug. I love that God has given you a few really true friends. You are learning that there is a difference between an acquaintance and a true friend. God wants us to love people. You are getting very good at that.
Your laughter is so contagious! You have the ability to make me smile, and usually everyone else around you. There may have been some times that laughter wasn’t exactly called for but it happened anyways. We all have those times! But, I can’t wait to see how God will use this for His glory in your life!
You love to fish. Seriously, love it. There are people to like to go fishing and there are people to truly love to fish. You get that honestly from my daddy and my Gran. Those two were true fishermen too. They were both very strong men of God and I’m so happy to see some of them in you. I’m so happy you can enjoy this amazing activity with one of my favorite men on the planet.
I love your sincere desire to see other people know your Jesus. Yes, you are a very typical middle school boy right now and all the silliness that entails. But deep down, you are sure of your salvation in Christ and when someone shows a desire to know more, you are ready and able to show them the Way. This picture was taken by someone else in our church during sports camp when you were asked by a boy to tell him how he could be sure he was going to heaven when he died. I’m thankful for the people God has placed in your life to help you learn these skills of discipleship so when the time comes, you are ready to share. Remember when God specifically told you to be more obedient? He’s still speaking to you.
After a little coaxing, you are mostly willing to try new things. No, I’m not talking about vegetables… LOL. You still won’t try most of those!! I love that you have found the sport you were born to play. Lacrosse has filled that need for speed in you and it’s the perfect level of roughness! I’m not super crazy about seeing people whacking my kid with metal sticks but you give as good as you get, that’s for sure! Once you settled in to the rules, you were able to play without spending too much time in the penalty box! You are so fun to watch play!
For my readers, I hope and pray that this will inspire you to write to your kids or a loved one. You don’t need a blog in order to make someone feel special. Treasure your loved ones and let them know it.
