Right now, in the southeast, we are talking about all things Irma! I’m posting today with some amazing tips about minimizing the hassle after the hurricane. These tips are super awesome because they come from experience. Please make sure you pass some of these along to some of your loved ones. While I was going over this list and compiling it for you, I realized that this list is good for anyone. There are even folks in the west dealing with fires. Get ready!
If it will turn to liquid when thawed, put in ziploc bags. (Think ice cream & popsicles) Because when the power comes back on… you will have frozen nasty puddles!
Photograph all food in refrigerators and freezers. If power is out long enough for it to spoil, you are only reimbursed if you have photos.
Video EVERYTHING! Walk through your home and open drawers, open closets, and take a video of it all. Upload to google drive for safe keeping.
Take as many of your electronics as you can and put them in an upstairs tub. My friend did this when her house flooded during Hurricane Matthew and it saved quite a few things.
Turn off all your circuit breakers. This is super important for safety after the power comes back on intermittently to prevent fires as well.
If you are affected by any natural disaster like hurricanes, fires, earthquakes and you have any handy tips, we would be super thankful if you would share them in the comments to help others! I’m certain y’all have some great tips for our readers!
Prayers for Houston and the Southeast and the West. Y’all take care and make sure you prepare ahead of time. That sure will make like a little simpler later!
Keep it Simple,
